What has gone before

Prologue

The world as we knew it, was shattered in an instant. A dark force, known as the Shadow Lords, emerged from the depths of ancient texts and folklore, consuming cities, nations, and even the brightest of spirits. With their twisted sorcery and malevolent intentions, they waged a war against humanity, seeking to plunge the world into eternal darkness.

In a merciless battle that spanned continents, the Shadow Lords proved to be a formidable foe. Their dark magic decimated advanced weaponry and technology, leaving humanity vulnerable and defenseless. As the last bastion of hope fell, a blinding light engulfed the remnants of resistance, transporting them to the future - an age of knights, castles, and ancient mysticism. Leaving their world in the past to be slaughtered, and ravaged by the Shadow Lords. The survivors found themselves scattered across an unfamiliar land, yet eerily reminiscent of tales of the past told by bards.

Tall mountains pierced the sky, adorned with snow-capped peaks, while lush forests sprawled for miles on end. They had been thrust into a medieval world, where horses replaced cars and swords replaced guns. As the initial shock subsided, the inhabitants of this modern world turned their attention to survival. They gathered in groups, seeking shelter in the ruins of grand castles and fortresses. Stripped of their technology, they resorted to the ancient ways, learning to craft armor and weapons, and honing their long-forgotten combat skills.

Amongst them was a young warrior named Thalleous Keptis. He dedicated his life to protecting his world, and now faced a whole new world turned upside down. Adapting himself to this new reality, with a courageous mindset and unwavering determination, Thalleous became a beacon of hope.  In just a short space of time the Shadow Lords found their whereabouts, and plunged the new world into chaos yet again. Vicious and cruel, they ruled with an iron fist. Their influence was pervasive and their armies seemed endless. They unleashed horrific armies, twisted by their dark magic, to terrorize the land. Stalkers haunted the forests, while hordes of undead roamed the countryside. Fear swept through the hearts of the survivors, but Thalleous refused to let despair overcome them. Guided by a soft & warm whisper in his ear, Thalleous assembled a band of warriors from across the shattered land. Knights, archers, and mages all stood united, each with their own unique skills and abilities. They trained relentlessly, forging a bond that surpassed any technological marvel they had once possessed. They were known…as the Fellowship of The Sun.

Using their newfound skills and ancient knowledge, the warriors set out on a quest to find a fabled and immortal warrior of old. This legendary warrior wielded unimaginable power and were said to be the key to defeating the Shadow Lords. With each step forward, Thalleous’ resolve grew stronger, fueling the hope of those around him. Their journey took them through treacherous landscapes and dangerous encounters. They faced off against otherworldly beasts, cunning tricksters, and death-defying traps. But their determination never wavered. Time and again, they pushed forward, battling not only the dark forces that plagued the land but also their own internal doubts and fears. Finally, after countless trials and tribulations, they reached the heart of the Shadow Lords' stronghold. A looming castle stood before them, surrounded by an impenetrable darkness. The warriors braced themselves, ready to face the ultimate test of their strength, courage, and unwavering faith in the Fellowship.

Within the depths of the ShadowBlight, they found themselves face to face with the Shadow Lords themselves. The battle that ensued was fierce, with the clash of swords mingling with the chants of ancient incantations. Sparks of magic collided, creating dazzling displays of light and darkness. Thalleous fought with unwavering determination, his warrior mind guiding his every move. At the pinnacle of the battle, Thalleous unwillingly unleashed a bright and powerful light that incinerated most of the Shadow Lords. The same power that transported Thalleous, and the other survivors, had been imbued into his blood. Suddenly, the rest of the Fellowship were imbued with this power, this newfound power giving them the strength to overwhelm the Shadow Lords. The once invincible beings trembled in the face of this new power, their dark magic dissipating.

As the last Shadow Lord fell, the Shadow Blight that had shrouded the world began to implode, sending the Fellowship to their camp. The remnants of the Shadow Blight obscured a worn village…settling ... until the next war threatens to re-awaken the dark magic. The Fellowship emerged victorious, celebrating in the newfound light. They had triumphed against all odds, bringing an end to the reign of darkness. And though they knew the scars would forever remain, they vowed to rebuild, using the power of the ancient light to create a brighter future.

Shadow Blight at Kumyrna

THE MAD KING’s SLAUGHTER OF THE INNOCENTS

King Teodric was known far and wide as a fair and just ruler. He was loved by his subjects and respected by his peers. However, all that changed when the second Great War with the Shadow Lords began. The Shadow Lords were a dark and malevolent force that threatened to plunge the entire kingdom into darkness once again.

King Teodric led his armies valiantly alongside Thalleous in battle, fighting fiercely against the Shadow Lords and their minions. Despite their best efforts, the war dragged on for years, with no end in sight. Finally, after many long and bloody battles, the Shadow Lords began to retreat. The people of The Plaguelands rejoiced, believing that the worst was finally over. But little did they know, the worst was yet to come. As the last of the Shadow Lords retreated, a sinister figure emerged from the shadows. This entity was not like the rest…this one…was a different being all together. This entity had a name Darconian, Shadowmancer.

He had been biding his time, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Using what was left of the Shadow Blight, Darconian took control of King Teodric's mind. The once noble and honorable king was now a puppet, his every action dictated by the will of the shadowmancer. And it had a cruel and twisted plan in mind. Under its control, King Teodric marched to a small village on the outskirts of the kingdom. The villagers, unaware of the dark presence, were celebrating the end of the second Great War.  King Teodric's eyes glowed with a malevolent light. His sword gleamed in the darkness as he began to slaughter the innocent peasants.

Through the King, Darconian spared none…not even the children. The screams of the villagers echoed across the wind, their blood staining the ground red. The once peaceful village was now a scene of horror and devastation, all at the hands of their beloved king. The survivors fled in terror, knowing that they could never trust their ruler again.

As the morning sun rose, the village was left shrouded in a putrid cold mist, the echo of the shadow blight. King Teodric stood in the center, his eyes vacant and empty. Darconian had used him as a weapon of destruction, and now he was left with nothing but the blood of the innocent on his hands. Shrouded by guilt, he took his own life with the very sword he used to slaughter his people.

The people of The Plaguelands were left to wonder what had become of their once great king. Some whispered that he had been possessed by demons, while others believed that he had simply fallen into madness. But the truth was far more sinister. The Entity had used King Teodric as a pawn in its twisted game. And now, as the kingdom mourned the loss of so many innocent lives, the return of the shadow lords loomed large over the land. The horror of that night would never be forgotten, a reminder of the darkness that lurked just beyond the light. And as the people of The Plaguelands rebuilt their shattered lives, they knew that they could never truly be safe as long as the Shadow Lords remained a threat.

Fangehorn Forest

Sisters of the Moon and the fight for Fangehorn Forest

The Sisters of the Moon are an enigmatic sect of mages, deeply connected to the mystical powers of the moon, which they worship as the source of their magical abilities. Founded in the Age of Silver Tides, these mages harness the lunar cycle's energy, with each phase granting them different powers. Their magic reaches its zenith during full moons, allowing them to perform extraordinary magical feats. They used their powers for good, healing and helping adventurers and residents of The Plaguelands.

Nestled within Fangehorn Forest, the Sisters built their sanctuary around the Lunaria Temple, a splendid edifice crafted from moonstone and silver, where they engaged in their lunar rituals and safeguarded ancient moon lore. The Sisters adorned themselves in robes crafted from threads that shimmered like moonlight and jewels that mirrored the celestial cycle.

The tranquility of the Sisters' existence was disrupted by the rise of the Shadow Blight, a malevolent force that aimed to quench all sources of light and magic. The sect's leader, Arch Mage Varjo Kuusta, known for her profound lunar connection, led the Sisters in a valiant effort to thwart this darkness. Battling long and hard until their powers were quenched.  During that fateful battle under a blood-red lunar eclipse, where the Shadow Blight's power was at its peak, the sect was overwhelmed and subsequently scattered across the realms, with their sanctuary left in ruins. The minions of the Shadow Blight wander the misty forest guarding against the Sisters return.

Now scattered, the Sisters of the Moon operate in isolation, their once united strength diminished. Believed to have disappeared in the last battle, Varjo Kuusta survived and is now on a relentless quest to locate her scattered sisters. Hidden from the eyes of the world, she travels through shadows, gathering strength and seeking out the remnants of her order. Individually, the remaining Sisters guard the ancient lunar artifacts and secrets, each upholding their sacred duties in anticipation of a time when they can be reunited. They persist in their efforts to regroup and rebuild their numbers, hopeful for the day they can restore the Fangehorn Forest and reestablish their presence.

A prophecy foretells that Varjo Kuusta will reunite the Sisters during a rare celestial event known as the Lunar Harmony, when all moon phases align in the heavens. This event is expected to signal the resurgence of the Sisters and the final confrontation with the Shadow Blight, potentially restoring light and magic to the world, thus fulfilling their destiny.
